Purpose of the job:

The Supply Chain Leader has the overall responsibility for understanding the business needs, deploying and implementing actions to deliver service, cost, quality, innovation, and safety targets as the SC business partner of the General Manager and the Board. Responsible for leading the end-to-end SC activities in the country (incl Logistics, customer service and running F4SG/5S program for the PMU) and engaging with Regional SC teams (towards make/logistics/materials capacity, cost, innovation and USLP deliverables) to ensure SC needs of the PMU are fully delivered.

As an SC BP to the GM, this leader plays an active role in P&L mgmt. within the PMU board. Is also responsible towards SC related USLP activities in the geography (eg circular economy, green electricity, green car fleet projects etc).

The key responsibilities of this role:

  • Partner and execute the Regional and Global SC strategies
  • Operational responsibility for local 3PMs, Plan, Deliver, Customer Service, SHEQ as well as CAPEX responsibility of executing projects
  • Own the Supply Chain budget and ensure delivery against plans
  • Ensure service rendered to customers at a level of quality above expectations to accelerate sales growth, build reputation and continuously improve to better deliver company targets
  • Drive S&OP and Inventory Management
  • Be a proactive people manager who inspires the SC team, manages team performance, plans for resource needs, and develops SC leaders
  • Ensure that the agreed production plans with planning and regional Division SC teams including: products, promotions and innovations satisfy the market requirements.
  • Drive Logistics operational costs measured as %TO down year on year through efficiency and effectiveness improvements across the freight and warehousing space.
  • Deliver year-on-year carbon improvements in line with USLP commitments and help design and implement the circular economy projects to meet Unilever’s published targets for the geography.
  • Support customer engagements to build Unilever value and relationships with the trade including value creation capabilities from Logistics.
  • Take leadership responsibilities for cross-regional projects to ensure that our Regional scale is fully utilized and resources are focused on the big plays.
  • Be a key member of the MCO Board and ensure the relationship between Logistics and Customer Service remains strong and focused on the key business results.
  • Represent Unilever in key supplier negotiations to ensure that we continue to drive for maximum value whilst also identifying opportunities to drive costs out of the total supply chain from supplier-through-consumer.
  • Manage day to day operational relationships with 3PLs and support the regional Customer Service team in contract/rate negotiations, logistics trade terms and annual review of 3PLs.
  • Drive Customer Service Mindset initiatives across the value chain.
  • Manage distribution cost models – cost to serve; optimize the Customer/Supply Chain interface (trade off evaluation of cost to service all customers)
  • Identify and execute opportunities to centralize, standardize and optimize our Logistics solutions between and across Market teams.

Professional Skills & Experience:

  • Education degree in Science, Engineering or Economics, ideally with a Logistics or Supply Chain element
  • Supply Chain (APICS etc) qualification advantage, FMCG experiences
  • 10-12 years’ experience in Supply Chain (Technology, SHE, Quality, Plan, Deliver)
  • Exposure to eCommerce and alternate channel business models
  • Fluent English, Czech/Slovak language preferred but not required
  • Strong communication skills - internally interactions with all SC functional teams in Unilever Europe and East Europe, plus cross-functions and externally with relevant local authorities and associations, 3PL suppliers, 3rd party product suppliers
